Advisors

  • Interested in Advising a Fraternity or Sorority?

Bradley University fraternities and sororities utilize both Alumni Advisors and Faculty/Staff Advisors to guide and advise them in their chapter activities and operations.  Roles of a fraternity or sorority advisor vary, but can include:

        •    Meet with the chapter president at least once every two weeks.
        •    Meet regularly with the chapter or chapter leadership to discuss organizational challenges.
        •    Meet with new members during their new member education program.
        •    Attend organization meetings at least once a month.
        •    Get to know chapter members, executive board officers, and other advisors.
        •    Visit the chapter house at least once a month during the school year.
        •    Advise chapter officers on their duties and responsibilities.
        •    Assist the chapter in setting realistic, attainable goals and action plans.
        •    Assist the chapter in developing a system through which they can evaluate their progress.
        •    Review the organization’s budget, and assist in the task of monitoring the budget throughout the year.
        •    Share your organizational, financial, facility, or other resource management expertise with the chapter.
        •    Stay informed of what is happening in the organization, both positive and negative.
        •    Challenge the organization and its members to grow and develop.
        •    Offer advice to graduating seniors on career opportunities.
        •    Encourage chapter members to participate in campus events and organizations.
        •    Maintain a strong relationship with the Greek Advisor and attend advisor meetings and training programs.
        •    Advocate for the fraternity experience to other faculty, university administration, and/or parents.

There is a strong correlation amongst Bradley fraternities and sororities that shows that the strongest organizations on campus are those which have dedicated advisors actively involved in the oversight of chapter operations.
